Also yeah I'd say having a deeper understanding of the inner workings of a computer and how things like registers and memory are built up from simple logic would help you better understand things like pointers and addresses in c, but at the end of the day it's not the end of the world if you're missing that info.
Actually arduinos are a pretty good and inexpensive way of learning coding for a beginner, you can get some starter kits online for cheap that also come with a bunch of electronic components and usually some kind of beginners guide with example code.
I think learning to code hands-on through something like an arduino kit is a much better way of learning and reinforcing the fundamentals and it's pretty rewarding getting to see the results of your code in real time right before your eyes.
