What is the highest gravity that humans could feasibly live in indefinitely? Does anyone know?

Would 1.5G be healthier to live in than 0.5G? I wonder how the health impact scales in both directions from 1G.

I remember playing Aurora 4x and colonizing a tidally locked planet with 1.5G to use for mining. All I could imagine was the fucking thighs and hips of those women after just a few generations of hard labor in 40% higher gravity. Every single one would be thicker than an African sex icon, and they'd have an easier time staying trim due to higher calorie consumption.
1.5G all the way. It's the healthiest and the only way.

After working at UPS and being a combat troop that has lifted heavy shit his whole young life, I can tell you life would be hell for your joints after 40. Imagine everything you pick up being 50% heavier. Imagine going up the stairs every day with 50 pounds extra on your back. Imagine the stress on your joints as you’d get out of bed in the morning. You’d wake up one morning and just not be able to get out of bed because the lubricant between your joints has worn away.

Your muscles would be jacked to compensate, but that’s probably it. It’s most likely a whole host of negatives from that point on. I unironically thing the way to go from there is genetic engineering for those specific planets.

being able to travel to and habitate planets like this is so infeasible that long term health effects with modern medical technology are absurd to contemplate. 100% we would have comprehensive regenerative medicine before people are born and die on other planets. regenerating healthy cells and keeping an animal at a healthy state indefinitely is an incredibly simple task compared to traveling between star systems

Is this an opinion or do you have some data to back that up?
I don't say you're wrong, but I think aliens could do the following - send a self replicating machine into space, dock an asteroid and build a space elevator to leave the planet easily.

With 60's tier chemical rockets, correct. With better engines, better fuels, or just going nuclear propulsion from the start, not necessarily. It'd still be more inefficient and expensive no matter what for sure, though.
There's also the question of whether a species would even be able to develop advanced propulsion to get off their planet without early chemical thrusters being sufficient to keep the ball rolling, but that's a different point.
