I'm a Mech Eng in my 30s and every job I've had keeps trying to push engineers into project management and makes you a manager both of which I fucking hate. And I find myself in meetings all day every day.
What job can I do instead that I can easily transition into? Ideally I just want to work for 8 hours a day on my own and never have to travel or manage any little pukes.
Does a purely technical role exist any more in the first world? I'm in UK btw.
