>>12781472I define dysgenic by a reduced ability of a species to survive, especially in adapting to slight changes in the environment.
People are becoming increasingly incapable of surviving independent of a society that is itself is mostly unstainable than in the past. Slight disruptions in infrastructure create unprecedented need for basic needs, which most humans are incapable of acquiring. Meanwhile, the squirrels outside my house seem to be doing just fine despite their habitat being constantly damaged.
A lot of it environmental damage, certainly. Not everyone can go out and hunt and/or gather because of population size or thy can't go get water from a nearby river because it's polluted.
You could make the argument that this is mostly environmental and not so much genetic, but I think a lot of the increased infrastructure that results in these environmental impacts is itself caused by a weakened genepool. If you took away the environmental degradation, I don't think most humans could adequately adapt to the same sort of survival grind even mere squirrels can.
I guess I don't have great data to back this up, so take that as you will.
