Hey /aco/, I am thinking of trying to develop a curriculum for a course on physics and music. Possible topics:
>Harmonic series (musical & mathematical)
>Vibrating strings
>Open ended pipes & resonant frequencies
>Bessel functions to describe vibrating drum head
>Fourier analysis of sound waves
>Alfvén waves (harmonic series crops up in the Jacobi expansion iirc)
>Kepler’s treatment of the planets with musical scales in his Harmonies of the World

Does anyone have a good recommendation for this? I’m looking for additional topics, potential textbooks, and any other advice you can give.
