I recently looked into frostban with a passing interest for feasibility in cloud seeding (got depressed at the part where it was just sprayed on the strawberries) and reminded me of this guy Jeremy Rifkin. IDGAF about his green new deal involvement, but as a nearly graduate genetics lab dishwasher I thought I might get opinions on how he became "The Most Hated Man in Science."
what I'm seeing is that he successfully sued and convinced Regan and Europe that GMOs were bad because e-coli that could prevent frostbite was a problem, which in the long-term I can see as an issue, but it's not like he actively sabotaged experiments meant to reduce waste. Those environmentalists were concerned about a china-level scenario at that time, what sort of rhetoric caused people to get so made it made a TIME cover? what sort of GMOs other than the Disney Siemens ride and yellow rice got two groups of people who are trying to reduce waste (by increasing per-acre yeald and reducing pesticide overuse) so against each other.
I cant tolerate vegans these days and somehow that's related to ice-free plants? like what the hell happened? why is sky bacteria the reason why I can't get an agriculture job in Europe? why would an economist even sue to block frostban in the first place?
Finally, who is the current most hated person in science/biotech, in terms of setting long-term effects?
