we did this shit for fun back in the day.
run a computer program that outputs x and y co-ordinates of the pen drawing the picture thru separate DACs to drive the x and y input of the oscilloscope and another value for intensity that also outputs DAC to drive the oscilloscopes z-modulus.
This is seriously old school retro.

we used to run a video signal thru these things and use it to watch TV.
