No, school is honestly a scam. Companies are just so cheap they aren't willing to onboard a person with a proper 6 month training for an entry level grunt engineer job. So they make you pay for 4 years of over education to trust you to run an excel sheet.

In the past they did because it was an easy way to perpetuate familial wealth. College wasn't nearly as disgusting in cost and was mostly for middle and upper class individuals. Now costs have gone through the roof with no signs of slowing down and the poor are rapidly starting to see formal certification as the only way out of their shit life. So wagies are starting to revolt demanding student loan relief and such.

Concerningly based, also until they were a glue sniffer they probably knew and didn't care. Ime, most instructors don't care about anything except being sued. For science pracs, the instructors were merciless hardasses about people drinking water or not wearing safety glasses, but allowed huddles of 20 Chinese students to share answers at the end of each prac before marking the work.

I think it becomes a lot less depressing if you accept it. I'm quite happy to be a non-academic vagabond who learns about how things are made and makes them himself, and learns history and mathematics without an academic structure.
I do work that doesn't require me to lie, and I don't put myself in academic environments that reward cheating or where I have to cram self-censorship on myself in order to avoid negative consequences.
