All of the associated analytic concepts start with, well, the start of analysis, which depends heavily on approximation and inequality manipulation you would practice using delta epsilon. All of the highschool math has context when you realize how important bounds are, how important factoring is in algebra, how much nice structure polynomials have, etc etc. but none of this comes out unless you have the basic highschool intuition first.
It’s crazy to expect people to understand what’s going on in C* algebras without having highschool math down pat, obviously since we’re talking about functional analysis and unitary representation.
How is OP gonna be comfortable with the spectral theorem if he can’t even reliably solve for the eigenvalues of a 2x2 matrix? How is OP going to be comfortable with Jordan normal form if he can’t do highschool arithmetic?
