i'm doing an ee phd working in rf. the field is astonishingly broad. it's not just circuit design (in fact many in my lab don't know how to operate an oscilloscope).

Not to kidnap your thread but have you EE guys heard of that youtuber Styropyro? Basically building super powerful lasers with ebay/alibaba stuff. Does EE give me the skills to do that kind of shit? Or is it another kind of engineering?
