This was so the store couldn't be considered negligent if someone tripped on a spill, turned up rug, debris, etc. The starting and ending time of each sweep was recorded in a logbook along with the name of the employee (usually a bagboy) who conducted the sweep. If you ever put down x:30 or x:00 as the starting or ending time of a floor sweep, the store manager would tell you to not do that because it looks faked. I tried once to explain to him that if the log never included exactly the top or bottom of the hour, that would look suspicious but he didn't want to hear it. He was sure that futzing the data was the way to ensure it didn't look like the data had been futzed.
