How does anyone that isn't schizophrenic think you could upload your mind to a computer without killing your original consciousness in favor of the duplicate?
At best you'd just upload your mind, realize that your consciousness had not "magically" transferred over to the computer, and give up
The only way this transhumanist crap would work is if you replaced your brain slowly while maintaining consciousness - if consciousness is just "meta" interaction internally between parts of your brain, generating internal stimuli, having neurons that will allow you to think about something internally rather than just firing in response to external stimuli, then you could replace it with an identical computer replica and maintain your own original consciousness; its that whole ship of theseus thing that people always bring up, but consciousness is more like sailing across the ocean, its not the ship itself that really matters, its what the ship is doing

As a side note, I don't think AI is coming anywhere near as quickly as some people are saying, I think the 2050s or 60s for a good general AI
