Is she a hack? She seems to be a coauthor in Science and Nature Cell Biology with a lot of citations, but at the same time she's way too confident on a lot of controversial topics and way too public for an honest researcher.

This is a fair criticism of the field in general, but the way you can overcome this is to not overemphasize a single paper but rather do a large literature review and find points of agreement in the field as a whole. This is exactly what she does. Her whole shtick is essentially doing literature reviews and publishing her findings in language that is halfway between laymen and technical levels
