My first thought was to hind inverse matrix to this one which will act like transition matrix from space based on rows to canonical basis. and than just multiply it with transposed matrix.

something like $$ A^{-1}.A^T$$

Does it make any sense ?

I know how it is called. and yes it is linear. All opearation you can do are on algebraic fiels (+,*). There are no other operations so, it can not be more linear.
