Some physicist think that quantum measurements can only be done by a conscious being.

I'm not saying this is true or false I am just trying to understand why anyone would think this. Surely quantum 'measurements' (collapse of wave function) happen all the time whether we observe them or not? Like right now the particles in your screen are not in a superposition...
