The quality of life for the average wagecuck went down sharply following the Industrial Revolution, and didn't surpass preindustrial levels until several generations after the Industrial Revolution. With that in mind, and given that we are on the verge of an Automation Revolution, it would be in our best interests to delay automation/AI for as long as possible, since we would most likely not be the ones to benefit from its productivity boosts.
