why are not miss so bad at understanding genetics?
when your mom and dad fuck to make you, they make one (1) cell with 1 (one) set of DNA that is replicated in all cells (or, at least all the cells that are capable of spawning more cells).
shortly thereafter it divides rapidly and there are millions of cells with the same DNA. by the time you are born you have fucking buttloads of jillions of copies of the same exact DNA.
so either you can
1) alter the DNA when you are just a one cell fertilized egg and that carries on through all the multiplications of cells
or
2) you modify each and every one of the DNA sequences in billions of cells individually.
obviously with the way CRISPR works and the way physical reality works then 2) is impossible. the only genetic editing that could possibly happen needs to happen right around the period where the sperm and ovum form a complete human genome, and before that embryo divides more that a few times.
this means no adult who has managed to emerge from the womb will ecer be able to change their genetics. it is set and done before your heart has formed. the CRISPR technology is not even close to that and never will be
