>>12745553Alberts "´Molecular Biology of the Cell" is a textbook of the Biology undergrads. Dunno if medtards also read it, I suppose it is too deep for premeds.
If you really want to got deep and philosphoical about Cell Bio you will need to read some books of great Biologists (that will not be just about Biology).
There asren't many "great books" from cell biologists that are on par with the books from molecular biologists (the double helix, dancing naked in the mind field). I only know of controversial ones from Peter Duesberg. I'd also imagine books by Leonard Hayflick and Sidney Brenner are also good.
In my field I can recommend a great book. "A brief history of Vascular Biology" by Bikfalvi. It is accessible via sci-hub. THere are some great "philosphies" about cancer and vascular biology in it.
