>>12745351>>12745360Lol you shit on this guy for the stupidest reasons. His complaints about string theory lead me to believe he's four decades out of date. On the other hand, his complaints about academia are valid, it's all just stuff everyone's too afraid to say until they've finished their career. He's not actually a martyr, he's only doing it because he was already ostracized. That's why he sucks. If he was given the option to be let back in if he apologized, he would do it.
Also, you clearly have never worked in academia, because if you knew anything you'd realize the "conspiracy" is he's talking about is real, it can only be seen when you have a new correct idea that sounds stupid. Weinstein isn't one of those people, he knows his stuff doesn't work, he is taking advantage of a pretend-martyr status to get popular, but the conspiracy he's pretending to fight is a legit thing. Established ideas in science sometimes got there because nobody could think of anything else. An example is nuclear electrons (now we know there are neutrons in there). When this happens, the confidence in the old theory should be next to zero, because there is no supporting evidence. But it doesn't feel that way socially. By the time people get around to challenging it, it's a dogma. It's not a good thing, it shouldn't happen, but it does happen. It's not happening with string theory, because it actually works.
