Chronic debilitating fatigue

No.12741883 ViewReplyOriginalReport
I am a 24yr old male. For the last few years. I have felt constant and overwhelming exhaustion. I have tried exercising more, eating healthier, etc. I saw some minor improvement but the tiredness still largely persists.

I wake up after 8-9 hours of sleep and feel tired the moment I open my eyes, and it’s downhill for the rest of the day. I often end up taking long naps in the afternoon and then still going back to sleep a few hours later.

I have asthma and eczema, which I have been told are closely related. I have read that these are also linked to depression and anxiety disorders which can also lead to fatigue.

At different times, I have tried:
>drinking lots of coffee
>energy drinks
>cocaine
>amphetamines including dextroamphtamine and meth amphetamine

The first 2 had no noticeable effect on my energy levels. Amphetamines helped slightly, but only just. After taking 20-50mg of adderall, I still felt incredibly tired throughout the day.

Meth was the most effective, but even so, compared expect results, I felt only mild benefit. I fell asleep from exhaustion at the height of the meth high, although it did wake me up after about an hour. After that, it did force me to stay awake, but my body and mind were still lethargic and unfocused. For obvious health reasons I only attempted this twice before discontinuing all use.

Does anyone else have experience with these symptoms, and if so, do you have any advice or insights?

I believe it is a physical source, not necessarily mental. My theory is perhaps this is related to poor lung function, as I have always had rather severe asthma. While I haven’t had any severe asthma attacks in a few years, I realize that often in the morning after waking up I feel out of breath and like I’m not getting enough oxygen. This feeling usually goes away after moving around for a while.

Thanks in advance.
