>>12740620Correct, in fact he's part of the German group known as the SS (Scholze-Stix).
>>12740987Apparently one part of the proof has a fatal flaw pointed out by the SS, which made the proof unsalvageable from their perspective. Of course, Mochizuki's proof has many, many more problems than that, he uses a ton of "nonstandard" language, like words he seems to make up on the spot to identify previously named mathematical structures. This combined with his refusal to give any lectures or seminars on it gives the impression he doesn't want anyone to know his theory.
Overall, fixing it would be like trying to pull out an umbrella in a hurricane, you'd have to translate everything from autist-speak into normal mathematics THEN attempt to fill in the major gap with only the slightest hope you'll actually succeed ala FLT style THEN send it back into peer review for like the 3rd time and hope no more problems remain. Only after all the big names, including SS, have verified the proof many times over after that will the community even consider calling abc solved.
Of course, nobody's taking the time to study it because the more likely option is that Mochizuki published a crank proof with nothing to offer, and you'd have to take at least a year to untangle it, of which that time would be completely wasted.
