The verbal sections absolutely rape them because they are stupid, and the verbal portions have the most predicting power.
>In fact poor people routinely perform poorly on IQ tests because they can't afford formal trainingWho the fuck gets formal training for IQ tests? anyway, Not all subtests for IQ tests can be improved upon, we already know that Working memory cannot be improved in adults (Any improvements in working memory measures do not persist after the session, nor do they translate to any increase in performance to other measures of working memory. aka You only improve in the task you've been practicing, your working memory capacity has not increased, you can try to improve your working memory at home if you don't believe me :) Alternatively, short term memory can improve quite dramatically (try at home yourself once again). Working memory is a better indicator for g that short term memory. group differences are bigger in Working memory than short term memory.
The fact that IQ test performance can be "trained" actually has the opposite effect you think it does. It masks the differences between groups, because the otherwise under preforming group can improve, meanwhile on subtests that are more innate to improvement actually show more pronounced differences in groups.
