After reading into this a bit, something about it just resonates with me, which i know doesn't necessarily mean a thing.
I really dont see it discussed on here much and understand that a lot of it is currently unprovable.
What are /sci/'s thoughts on this theory? Am i being a popsci faggot?

but you're kind of right, LQG has been mostly ignored lately. all of these beyond standard model theories that are untestable are kind of fringe, unless they have some sort of mathematical significance (string theory)

If I'm not wrong, LQG was the first attempt at a quantum gravity theory and it was also the most sensible one at the time. The way one goes from classical to quantum mechanics is by the so-called correspondence between Poisson brackets in Hamiltonian classical mechanics and commutators in quantum mechanics. So an attempt was made at formulating general relativity in a Hamiltonian formulation (leading to the Wheeler-deWitt equation). All these ideas started developing around it, leading to modern-day LQG. However, interest towards LQG gradually fell as string theory offered better solutions for non-gravity related stuff and string-like solutions popped up independently in a number of problems in QFT.

no, LQG doesn't yield string-like solutions. I'm saying some stuff you encounter in QFT (quantum field theory) has mathematical properties very similar to those studied by string theorists. That's why string gained such a clout in the first place.

At one point I wondered if Wan der Waals forces could be gravity, and indeed there were some docs on that.

So now deep down I think gravity is just some kind of integration of Van der Waals forces as the number of charged particles tends towards infinity.

Fuck me.
