>>12728041It might be a genuine condition some people have, but let me share my experience as presumably normal dude:
1. I suspect people psyche themselves up with it too much, because I never notice a reaction to these patterns unless I've been primed by a suggestion that it could trigger "trypophobia".
2. I'd say it's less a fear and more of a disgust response. It can look like an infection, abnormal growth, or rot -- and the worst ones literally are.
3. It depends on the image, some look totally normal and cause no reaction despite totally having the same pattern, i.e. they lack the gross-out factor which I suspect is the main thing going on.
To me it seems bit like if "puke-phobia" became a meme. Normal people are innately grossed out by it in the right context so it's not really very remarkable. Things similar to puke can gross me out too, if I prime myself by noticing it ("wow this food looks like barf.... ah shit I ruined my dinner"). etc. etc.
