Depends on the MW of the polymer, and the dispersion therein. You could estimate length, by extrapolating bond lengths of the average monomer if you were really curious. However, this isn't particularly useful in plastic processing; MW is a good handle for rheometric/thermal/mechanical/chemical properties.
For polyethylene (your milk jug) this can be between a couple thousand to maybe about 10 thousand Å. But, take that with a grain of salt. Polymers are like a bowl of spaghetti, different lengths of noodles, all tangled and wrapped around each other (not to mention bonding/xling between chains).
