What is your opinion on bariatic surgeries?
Aka cutting your stomach so you starve yourself until you're not fat anymore.
They have to take supplements for life cause their body can't absorb nutrients properly after that.
About 50.000 persons do this each year in France, 82% are women and they have 50% more chance of suicide after the surgery.

Is this peak capitalism?

It's peak failure of will. A crash diet achieves the same result without digestive and metabolic disability. Surgery isn't an easy option, and it works by making it painful and causing vomiting if you over eat. I don't see it as a capitalism problem (the cause of the obesity itself might be, an overabundance of food caused by production efficiency), it's really a failure of will that you need surgery or an implanted device to force yourself to comply with a crash diet.

Capitalism has produced good crash diet solutions. Nestlé Health Science make Optifast, noted businessman Adam MacDougall makes the Man Shake etc.

Yes it does. All the magical gains of bariatric surgery are from caloric restriction of a VLCD neccesitated by forced reduced caloric intake through volumetric reduction of digestive capacity. A crash diet, well formulated to spare protein and micronutrients, achieves the same results at a far cheaper price with far less side effects. Capitalism allows you to buy such diets off the shelf.

All bariatric surgery is is diet compliance, if you don't comply with the diet, then the tiny stomach made small by surgery/device sends an adverse pain and emetic signal. Or you could send a "I will only eat the diet shake" signal to your motor neurons for six months and get the same end result.

They work by pain compliance, you eat too much and it feels like someone has punched you in the guts and you vomit. Not suprising that people KYS after a few months of it, it's not a pleasant method unlike a crash diet.

It's a question of ontogeny, not genetics. Every one has the genes to be weak, restrict yourself of protein or a vitamin and you'll live on as a weak person, your genotype can produce a weak phenotype as a result of envirnonment stimulus like poor diet. It should be banned, further more any doctor who has performed this surgery should have their medical license revoked if not imprisoned. No sane and ethical person would ever carry out such a surgery on another person, and no sane person would agree to such a surgery therefore they could not possibly consent.

Such problems can be easily solved without resorting to mutilation. There is one solution which would absolutely work.
1. a reasonable diet plan is agreed upon
2. each week an inspector comes and assess the weight loss progress
3. if target weight loss has not been reached, a session of waterboarding will commence
4. it won't take many waterboarding sessions to crack the will of even the fattest of fats, weight loss achieved, no mutilation needed

You will still balloon up with the same shit diet. Doctors force you to go on a strict dietary weightloss program for a period of time to show that you can shed some of the pounds and keep a regular diet. The reason why these individuals need surgury is usually because they yoyo weight between almost fit and morbidly obese. They can sustain short bursts, but ultimately they relapse into their food addiction. Really, such individuals would be best placed in psychiatric care and 12 steps program be developed. Modern food is literally designed to addict and enslave you.

Carbohydrates and simple sugars elevate serotonin and in response the brain reduces its own production. Gluconeogenesis doesn't even need outside glucose in a diet to be produced by the body itself. There is zero reason that humans consume so much carbohydrates.
