Hello guys, I am really breaking my head over this rock. If I'm not wrong, pic related is a sediment. My strongest guess is a suevite, but the slate is confusing me immensely. What would you guys guess?

If you like a good story, read The Mountains of Saint Francis (Walter Alvarez). It's the book that got me into geology in the first place.
I'd also check out Annals of the Former World, by McPhee. It's a great (but long, nearly 800 pages) narrative. Both of these books are amazing for both learning geology and appreciating the vastness and adventure of it all.

This rock probably is from the Eifel in Germany, there's a lot of slate and inactive volcanos that formed a lake, so yeah
