tents can be made from canvas, as they used to for millennia before
crayons can be made from bee wax or extracted from vegetable oils instead of paraffins
parachutes can be made of silk or some other, likely semi-synthetic fibre instead of nylon
etc.
I could do this for his entire list of nonsensical babyboomer necessities. I mean seriously - movie film? percolators? cassettes? hair curlers?
like half of these things are usually not made from crude oil to begin with
