Why are oil baths still a thing?
Why can't they use something not disgusting, like sand to heat flasks?

Oil baths are filthy, and require effort to clean so you can weigh your material. God forbid if you have a thin layer of the stuff still on your flask when your synthesis is on the mg scale.

Also where do you buy a sand bath? I find nothing on the internet.

Oil baths work well and I use them when I need precise heating. Heating mantles are good for refluxing and random scaling up. Never needed anything else.

Also, just fucking clean your rbfs with hexanes before weighing you colossal mongoloid

when this happens it is imperative to wash the outside with acetone like 3 or 4 times to dissolve the oil
