What is space made of?

I know it’s a vacuum but what is it actually made of? Like the black part between all the planets and stars and galaxies that spaceships fly through.

Spacetime is GR's canvas. The canvas is mostly blank. Yeah. Space is a 3D shadow, being cast on the universe. Wherever matter doesn't reach, there is an empty shadow. Of course there are still things happening in that shadow, just like there are still things in a dark room. Gravity waves interacting across vast distances, light traveling through it in all directions. It just happens to be missing energy in the form of matter, like how an empty room is missing energy in the form of light. If you look at the image you posted, all those galaxies are radiating photons in every direction. Every inch of it is filled with light. You just don't see it until it reaches matter. But then you also don't see what's in the room without light. Both of them are full of energy, you're just not necessarily seeing it

Space is a field or rather a combination of variety of fields. The distance between the space is a field on itself. So regardless of how "vast" space may seem, it can easily be condensed into a size of a tiny sugar cube with very little effect on that scale. The expansion of space is merely due to fields crisscrossing and energy clumping together and pushing away to distribute the energy via various fields. Ofcourse these explanations go beyond human perceptual or even conceptual understanding of space. Our eyes just cant see whats behind space, our minds with the mathematical intuition help us understand it.

What OP is trying to state is what is "nothing"? I think its a good question. What actually is the particleless vacuum? Does it go on infinitely? Far past the actual matter of the universes? Is there an end to it? How do suns really work in the vacuum?
