I copy and paste the title of the paper and add “review/comments/opinions” at the end and see if some geek on quora or reddit or yahoo made a post about it. Then I just copy whatever they say unless it disagrees with my paper.

Disregard everything go methodology carefully examine it. And look at the the title/abstract, if it isn’t supported disregard immediately. Otherwise look, if raw data is given. No raw data means it’s probably not really useful. Read the rest of the paper, if raw data is given or if it’s very important to your research and immediately request raw data.

Otherwise your mind will be filled with garbage. It’s a decision everybody will have to make. If we are talking about a pay for play or pop scientist the considerations will be different compared to mine. Most studies can’t be replicated. So this is, what you should assume about the study laying in front of yourself. Quality and quantity won’t go together in most cases.
If you really want to understand something, you absolutely have to go after the reference chains. And yes, real science and research is quiet painful and few actually want to do it.
