It’s not only me experiencing that subjective feeling. You can describe nearly every psychedelic compound objectively and they sound more or less the same beyond duration. Subjective experiences are what distinguishes one from another.
I think religions could certainly be influenced by DMT containing compounds, but beyond South America there isn’t a lot of evidence to back that up. I think delusions related to schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are just as likely— and those aren’t manifested by DMT. Prophets and religious figures more than likely had one of the two illnesses if I had to guess. They weren’t normal people, and delusions of any kind were probably seen as some sort of connection with a higher power.
Difficult to describe those dreams. Like being in a corridor of another reality.
