Will all planets that evolve intelligent life, have fossil fuel energy available to them?
I would guess that there is a stronger argument for this, than against this. Since evolving intelligence on Earth, took a very long time, since life first began here.
On any other planet, I would not assume that intelligent life would be one of the first forms of life there. Thus, those non-intelligent life forms would probably die off over the years leading up to intelligent life.
Unfortunately, on a quick glance, "fossilization" is a relatively rare process, compared to the amount of organic life that has existed here.
"Fossilization is the process by which a plant or animal becomes a fossil. This process is extremely rare and only a small fraction of the plants and animals that have lived in the past 600 million years are preserved as fossils."
Is the process of fossil fuel creation/hydrocarbon energy storage, something that is guaranteed to happen, for any planet that contains "life as we know it" ?
I know that the type of fossilization in which plant and animal components turn to rock/mineral that we can study isn't the exact same as the process which turns them into harvestable oil. I am happy to be corrected further on why the creation of hydrocarbon oil is more or less likely than mineral fossil creation.
