>>12702742Imagine that you juggle red balls today. You are a compulsive juggler so you cannot stop.
But you want to juggle blue balls.
How do you do it? You're so used to the red balls that you preferentially focus on them. So if you get a set of blue balls and try to switch over, you'll fail. You'll be overwhelmed by all the new balls, and the red balls will still be flying around, you'll drop the blue ones, you'll be frustrated, and you'll be stuck juggling red ones.
What you should do is add one blue ball this week. And you tell yourself, it's important to keep it going.
Is it still there next week? Maybe it is, maybe it's not, it doesn't matter, but you add another blue ball anyway, and tell yourself, it's the blue balls that are important.
No juggler can juggle an infinite amount of balls, so you'll drop balls over time as you add more balls. You drop a lot of blue ones. But sometimes you drop the red ones too. But you only add new blue ones, and you tell yourself those are the important ones.
And one day you wake up, and all your balls are blue.
