Still the the government don't care about it. And the doctors think that persistent Lyme is not real.

More and more celebs are speaking out about their battle with Lyme. Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, Amy Schumer, Alec Baldwin, Bella Hadid for example.

But why isn't Lyme research getting funded?

That anon isn't entirely wrong. There was a systemic response to quash funding and research into Lyme Disease, including from the IDSA, which was found in the court of law to have many members with conflict of interest in denying the reality of chronic Lyme Disease. There's finally enough research that the tide is starting to turn, but people have suffered for decades and told by doctors they had nothing wrong because of politics in the scientific community.

I have been aware of the story for awhile, and I periodically check for update, but nothing has ever come out.

These sorts of investigation are often classified, though, so that could be why. If that's the case, then we probably won't here anything for awhile, but maybe in 15-20 years they will issue an FOIA release concerning the investigation and it's findings. As usual, it will be heavily redacted.

People recognize that most celebrities are chronic attention seekers who will make up any story to get more attention. Lyme disease is obviously a real condition but there's no reason to believe the average celebrity who suddenly claims to have the latest trendy diagnosis.

I live in northern Poland, some of the forests here are crawling with Lyme-infected ticks. My family really likes hiking so that's why we had so many infections. I don't really have interesting stories, in all cases the Lyme went away after a decently dosed course of doxycycline. Fortunately, while some of them believe in altmed stuff, it's the kind that causes them to just take herbs and practice weird Law Of Attraction mental stuff in addition to taking modern medicine, not the kind that would cause them to take antibiotics for years.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a software issue. When Lyme goes untreated for a long period, it can cause real neurological damage that may take years to heal. Chronic Lyme symptoms are definitely real, it's just that there's almost never an infection after antibiotics have been used properly. The remaining symptoms are just from the damage done by the bacteria before they were eradicated. The problem is that there are many altmed people who are trying to convince sufferers that they should keep taking antibiotics until all their symptoms go away.

Doesn't look like it's much of an issue here in Georgia. The few cases here might be from travel to other states. Until it's widespread everywhere, it'll be give less attention than other diseases.

Wear long pants and tight underwear if you're in an area with lots of vegetation. If you do find a tick then make sure to monitor the area bit for lyme symptoms. If you notice anything then have it treated asap and you're fine. It's really not a big deal

I work outside in Virginia and get 2-3 ticks a day, especially if I'm working in greenhouses. I catch most of them as they make their way up my neck, but sometimes I get them in other spots.

I have no idea how anyone can go hours without knowing one of these things are on you.
