>>12700494>why do people become more conservative with age? You've been walking the same forest path all your life.
As a child you complain "why don't we take another path it would be so easy and so good to completely change the path!"
But you still walk along it, your parents drag you along.
As a young adult you walk close by, on new paths, and you enjoy the freedom of the experience. You think "See I was right all this time!"
So you walk even further from the original path for every year, and eventually, often in your late 20s or early thirties, you come upon a path full of rapists, murderers and ideological zealots that will lure you off the main road to murder you for not sharing their opinion.
You go back to the intermediate paths, what you enjoyed. But you see the bad men roaming far and wide from their warpath, demanding that you join them on the main road or be declared a traitor to their cause.
So you go back to the old and established path of your parents. Preserving the society you grew up in have its drawbacks, it's a bit tired, it's a bit worn, but at least it's not leading you down the path of communist genocide where you execute your friends and neighbors because they seemed to waver from the true faith in the glorious global commie revolution or some other nebulous reason made up on the spot to satisfy the bloodlust of one or another political commissar looking to rape and murder.
