Can we measure the sensitivity of long-term multiplexed outputs from unrelated neurons? As in how sensitive neurons are to merging either for pleasure or learning in terms of imagination or intelligence.

I am curious as to how one differentiates between learning distributive and communally useful patterns of energy optimization, and a short-term misfiring or chemical experience that doesn't go beyond titillation or full-blown tilting rage-monkeys.
