The body of knowledge that we possess that they didn't is much greater than the body of knowledge that they possessed that we do not. That said, anything we can learn from them is a nice bonus and we should continue being open to knowledge they possessed that we do not.

Sadly much of their knowledge has been lost in the sands of time. Not much we can do about that. My concern is around the general belief that there is nothing worth learning in the past other than historical novelties about how they lived.
