like the way you set status bits on a registor. That has nothing to do with AND or OR.
It's a completely emergent application, based on the fact that half of the truth table preserves the value of A, while the other half forces it to either 0 or 1

The operations you do on register values has everything to do with bitwise manipulations. Learning how primitive mathematical operations work under the hood of pseudo code processors will really help you understand computers.

it's a step up from just logic gates since he's implementing the gates using bjts, although i don't know if his circuit is robust like TTL

I had put together two frequencies and it seems like it doesn't repeat, or it takes longer to repeat.
