>>12687488It really is! It's used in the synthesis of crystals which have a wide range of uses. They use two zones of temperature and a solvent. The hot zone is to melt nutrients and they reform as, whatever is being synthesized in the cool zone.
I don't think this is how fake diamonds are made, but I know it's used for quarts, tungsten and other every day materials. I've never messed around with an autoclave but I think it would be fun to experiment with different crystals.
