They found that people with higher IQs and lower IQs showed similar brain activity initially, but after some time, the latter group showed a steep decrease in brain activity.
The way I interpret this is that higher intelligence is related to your brains ability to find more efficient ways of solving problems. So high intelligence is moreso a result of efficient models rather than raw processing speed
