>>12689889There are a lot of people/companies that make adins for Excel to expand it capabilities. There might be some differences in the version you get, but generally if you open the VBA editor and go to tools, references and look at all the references in there - there a lot. In addition, there are many others that are free or you can buy. You can also use multithreading, its only single thread by default but you can change that. In addition, you can use Visual Studio to program in VB or C# to develop an Excle addin to customize functionality.
One question I have that I could not find an answer to yet is - Using Visual Studio you can create an Excel Addin, but if you install a Nuget package does the functionality of the Nuget package become part of the Excel addin and work within Excel? For example can I use the Nuget package manager to bring in a ScieCharts package and use SciCharts in Excel? Anyone know?
The advantage of Excel is you can use functionality from Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word by selecting those references, and you can control those other applications from Excel without opening them.
There are more appropriate programs developed for working with matrices, but you can install some pretty sophisticated aftermarket products for this in Excel.
I am not plugging Excel. it just turned out that is has vast functionality way beyond what I initially thought, and you can still use it for daily work, school, projects and its fully integreated with MS office, connects to SQL server, can read something 36 data types, has M and DAX capability and python you can't.
