Been a few years since college but had to take gen eds. These classes are typically very easy and dont require a lot of work to get an A. They can be fun blow off classes to get a break from doing science/math 12 hours a day.
Once you get to higher level classes it gets a bit more complicated but you can learn some interesting skills. I had a political sci course that was very philosophical. The classmates were kinda what you'd see in the typical sci classes, a few very bright ones, several that did well, and a whole lot that were just trying to pass.
I definitely recommend trying to take a few of the latter classes but most people get steered into taking the former. Nothing wrong with those either but I wouldn't really call it an education
