I always wondered why there isn't much investment in renewables like solar panels and wind turbines.
Is it because investors are afraid they would become pretty much useless once fusion power is harvested?

there's more investment than you would believe. There is not much investment in certain types of solar power like concentrated solar because of the worry that photovoltaics could improve and make them obsolete.
