>>12678853The vast majority of astronauts are either STEMfags or test pilot stick jockeys.
Women are fairly rare in either of those vocations. Less so in STEM but still uncommon enough that they do not make up a huge proportion of astronauts. Also I say STEMfags but to be even more specific, astronauts are almost always from aerospace engineering related fields because their function aboard the space station (or the shuttle when it was still operating) is to manage, maintain, and possibly fix, the spacecraft payload/experiments. They rarely send up academic/research oriented STEM people (which is where the majority of women in STEM are located), but rather engineering autists, which are overwhelmingly male.
A few other things to consider;
the actual biological differences between Male and Female astronauts are almost negligible, certainly not enough to affect astronaut selection. Not only that, but there are certain things Men are actually much better at your meme image fails to mention, such as males being measurably (and by a pretty significant amount) better at 3 dimensional spatial recognition and movement, Men having generally better scores on alertness despite prioritizing speed, and Males being better psychologically suited to living in a small tin can for half a year with almost 0 privacy. In fact, just a side note, the US has spent literal BILLIONS on making adaptions to the International side of the ISS in order to make it sufficiently comfortable for co-ed habitation, a massive expenditure the Russians avoided by just not sending women to the station.
One final note for your consideration; the proportion of Women who meet the physical and academic requirements to be an astronaut, and have been selected as an astronaut, is probably several orders of magnitude higher than that ratio for Men. Defeating your whole statement is the reality that it is statistically easier for a qualified woman to become an astronaut than a similarly qualified male.
