>>12682953It's okay. You basically have to teach yourself medicine since a lot of the London hospitals are so busy and senior staff either don't give enough fucks about you and/or your education unless you are really keen and have your nose up their arse. It's better when you're on peripheral if you get put out at a DGH in Kent, but it isn't great. The admin is also fucking atrocious, our results were released yesterday and in classic King's fashion, the wrong results were accidentally released six hours early. Other faculty are up their own arses and I think yesterday's apology was the first one we got in my six years there. You get to see some cool stuff every so often, but it doesn't really contribute towards the bread and butter of medicine.
We have a few medfluencers in the year below, but they cast this absolute bullshit experience of medicine at GKT; I know people in the year below who say they'll just suddenly bring out their camera on/after placement, construct some lie about how much shit they do and then put it away and go home.
>>12685539Like the other anon said, it doesn't matter. You end up a doctor. If anything, you'll be at more of a disadvantage at what is considered a 'high achieving' uni because you don't have as many gunners trying to steal and obscure teaching and research opportunities from each other. I don't care too much, but I know a few of my better friends at King's will hide and play down their side projects or try and get others involved, so that they can one up others when it comes to FPAS applications. Not as bad as Imperial or George's from what I've heard and experienced of seeing their students, but it's still a thing.
People outside of London med schools are a lot more relaxed, collaborative, and arguably, if the 'standard' of other schools is actually lower (it isn't), you would have a better chance of ranking higher at these schools than a 'good' one and it would be better to go to them.
