YouTube audio encoding isn't gonna give you the best indication of how well you hear, I think theirs cuts off after a certain point

If you can't hear something it could be your speakers. Some speakers don't support the highest frequencies.
I once tested something like this and I thought I'd gotten very bad hearing but it was just my speakers and by changing to something different I could hear it.

I'm 30, can very barely hear the 17k but so weak I almost wonder if it's my imagination but I don't think it is.
It's no good to be old, and this is one way you clearly see it.

I can push it to 19400 or so, but higher than that and my headphones start making a sound that drowns out what would be the sound of the test, so even if I could hear it it'd be much harder.
It has a noticeable spike in difficulty around 17k, and at the higher like 18k+ I need to turn up the sound to hear it.
It also gets a bit complicated because the sound seems to be more noticeable right when you start it, I don't know if it's my ears that adjust so I hear less good shortly after entering a new sound range, or if the sound actually is clearer at the start of the test right when you turn on the sound.

I'm 18 and I can hear all on my phone's speaker although after 17000 I have to get it close to my ear to hear and at at 20k it's a very faint sound but I still here it get fucked boomers

Warning: Your headphones/speakers, doesn't have to play at 16khz... Adequately, 48khz sample rate can only play 24khz of frequency, if they play sinusoid at let's say 18k you don't have to be experiencing frequency, therefore you don't hear it.

Used to hear in a range humans technically shouldn't for a long time. Could locate tvs on mute from far away the sounds they made drove me nuts. Wires in the walls, devices with low battery emiting faint whines ect. Then I had a kid and my eardrums were fucked from all the crying. Now I'm normal and can finally live in peace. Although I still hear those fucking wires. What causes a human to hear outside the range? Is it not rare? There's gotta be some one else who can hear things plugged in.

Interesting, I plugged in some good headphones and get 14Hz to15kHz.
I had to check to mack sure I'm not crazy but apparently lots of people can hear down to 12Hz.

This is interesting, I tested on some different speakers:
Phone speakers: 16000Hz
Logitech PC speakers: 15300Hz (very disappointed)
Sony headset: 18000Hz
