I have a stupid question: people are focused on trips to Mars. Would it not be easier to launch a mission to Mars from the moon? I mean, why haven’t they created a moon base to launch Mars missions from?

Sure, it would take less energy to launch from the moon if that's what you're getting at, since obviously there's less gravity. But take it one step further, why not just launch from outer space then? The issue is that everything ultimately has to come from the Earth, since that's where we make things. So adding an extra step by launching from the moon doesn't really help.

That said, if you really want to build a large ship it would probably make sense to build it in orbit, or at least rendezvous with the ship in orbit.

Anyway, fuck space travel. Waste of time.

if you have the ability to get to the surface of the moon you have the ability to put yourself on a really fast transfer orbit to Mars (five months instead of eight or twelve)

Maybe there is water in the polar region and you could make fuel with that, but it's still a long shot setting up all the stuff, and what's even worse is it would be hydrogen (+oxygen) instead of methane.
Methane is a lot better for mars.
