The result itself isn't a meme. It's large pre-trained AI, much larger than anything that came before. But they simply did that by throw a shitload of data and computation power to train it, which isn't that impressive since any rich faggots can do that if they want.

GPT-3 is just GPT on steroids, and GPT itself isn't that impressive theory-wise. They just pretrained on unsupervised then "fixed up" a little afterwards. The real universe breaking discoveries will be in model interpretability

It makes me sad that the futuristic super-AIs are essentially just going to be really powerful text predictors with a shitload of training data. I always wanted it to come from a simulation of a human brain perhaps as a map of neurons or maybe rather than anything like that just an incredibly well programmed chatbot worked on by a massive team of top experts. I don't like this brute force method of just flinging data at something.

What is displayed in that video is undeniably impressive but I dont think the dude tested it to its limits, and the answers given feel like a patchwork of responses to similar questions rather than a unique formulation with any actual "thought" put into it. I also think the ability of this software to lie kind of defeats many practicle purposes it may have had.

The video is likely faked at least a bit. A couple of reasons:

1) The whole "in the frame of the video" thing, where the model would likely not have any information

2) The "my name is GPT-3", which again the model doesn't know

3) The youtube channel had like 500 views before this, and it suddenly went viral.
