How do I cope when my professor-to-be has bad reviews on Rate My Professor.
Context: He's my Calc II professor. And he has lots of bad reviews there, too.

Dont take the course. Also, if attendance is not mandatory, go to anothr professors section instead, if theyre not full of shit then they'll let you stay

If attendance is not mandatory, either self study or just attend the section with a better prof which is already filled because most people won't go.
If attendance is mandatory, tough shit. Just do homework or study during class.

As others have said, it's a question of mandatory or nonmandatory attendance. It's an online course, and I think attendance is mandatory, but it's literally as simple as clicking a link.
So, I'm the one in control of my learning whether or not I have a shitty prof.

People never rate the lectures they learn the most from the best, they rate the lectures that make them feel good the best.

People learn more when they have to think, when they get challenged and don't get spoon fed everything. This requires effort, it requires you to be frustrated at times and it makes people less comfortable.

To me, it's never worth taking a class you need with a bad professor. Try to delay the course with other classes you need in the meantime. Check back next semester (or try a different community college) and pray for a good professor.

Either genuinely bad or taught tens of thousands of soon-to-be-weeded-out undergrads where he's a victim of a numbers game. I wouldn't take the chance anyways. Don't risk fucking up your undergrad GPA or getting into probation because you thought it was all exaggeration.

i wouldn't worry about it. if you're taking an english class and the teacher has a 1.2, drop. you're taking Calc II. it's very likely there were a lot of people just butthurt about failing a notoriously hard class and so they blamed your teacher instead of looking inwards

personal anecdote: currently taking my third math class with the same teacher (discrete math and lin. algebra, now taking calc 2 coincidentally) and his rate my professor score TANKED last semester because of a bunch of butthurt students bombed his reviews after trying to take hard advanced math courses online and doing poorly (surprise)
